Epigramas da Arte is an appeal in defence of Art in general, and the Art of Sound in particular, considering its urgency, imperative necessity in the affirmation of the highest values of the human condition, as the indispensable expression of human creativity, and key for the evolution capability of humanity. It is also an imprecation against the current hegemonic power and dictatorship of the market.
This work for voice and live electronics is still a work in progress, composed from many phrases defining Art, written by numerous Portuguese citizens to be read aloud and recomposed by Miguel Azguime, on the occasion of Art’s Birthday 2014 on January 17 (celebrated annually throughout Europe and by means of the European Broadcast Union, to commemorate Robert Filiou’s historical “happening” and statement from the 1960s).
