Lisbon Soundpainting Orchestra

The Lisbon Soundpainting Orchestra is a group of varying dimensions, whose music ranges from written music (jazz, rock, contemporary music) to directed improvisation - the basic concept of Soundpainting. This group brings together musicians, singers, dancers, actors, and can also join video artists, light or audiovisual technicians, visual artists, circus artists, poets, etc. It was created in 2014 by François Choiselat (Vibraphone, Improviser and Soundpainter), Francisco Andrade and Paulo Lamas Pimentel.
The Lisbon Soundpainting Orchestra allows a wide range of possibilities, from the "traditional" concert to performances or educational activities.
Performances are occasions to explore and use the potentialities of a specific place, whatever the place is, and to make unfold it to the public from an original and unusual point of view. It allows totally unexpected and surprising encounters with the public through a journey in music, dance, song and improvisation, giving sometimes the public the role of intervener within the story told.
With its educational activities, the objective of the LSO is to create different moments and spaces through the discovery and practice of Soundpainting. In fact, the language of Soundpainting allows anyone, whatever the age, artistic tendency or level of practice of an art, to find its own space within the group and to develop its creativity without any internal or external barrier. In practice sessions, the participant may be the interpreter and/or Soundpainter (conductor).
