SYNOPSIS

open4tet - BECHEGAS | ESTEVES da SILVA | FAUSTINO | MITZLAFF ::::::: previews a planned trip, confirming the family itinerary! In this quartet of instrumentalists / composers, the spontaneity chooses the shortcuts, not laying a controlled skid, to be released. In the discourse of open improvisation, in solos, duos ... to explore unusual remarks, it is a motto to follow indeterminate path, proposing multiple possibilities.

Carlos Bechegas Flautist and composer with many different collaborations, such as with Derek Bailey, Alexander von Schlippenbach, Barry Guy, Peter Kowald and Joëlle Léandre, among many others, and with a long collaboration with Carlos "Zíngaro" since the "Plexus" project.

João Paulo Esteves da Silva was born in Lisbon in 1961. Musician, poet, translator, recorded dozens of records, a fortnight in his own name, has published to date five books of poetry. Translated several plays, Beckett, Ibsen, Pasolini, among others. He is a teacher in the jazz course of the Superior School of Music of Lisbon.

Rui Faustino A native musician from Portimão, started his musical activity as a self-taught musician. He received classical training at EPME in Espinho, Jazz at HCP in Lisbon and at UdK in Berlin. In Portugal he joined the Open Speech trio of Carlos Bechegas and led his own trio with João Paulo and Mário Franco. In Berlin he worked with musicians such as Kazuhisa Ushihachi, Joel Grip, Axel Dörner, Tobias Delius, Biliana Voutchkova, (...). Rui also plays solo with the project For Unaccompanied Drums.

Ulrich Mitzlaff collaborates regularly in several projects in the areas of contemporary "immediate composition", electroacoustic music and free jazz with some of the most important Portuguese musicians such as Carlos "Zíngaro", Nuno Rebelo, Carlos Bechegas and Carlos Santos.
