Nuno Costa wins the ISCM Young Composer Award 2015

Miso Music Portugal, as the Portuguese Section of the International Society for Contemporary Music, is pleased to announce that this year the ISCM Young Composer Award 2015 has been given to the Portuguese composer Nuno Costa, for his work Pater Noster for a capella, 8-voice choir. The work was presented on September 30 in Ljubljana, in the framework of the World Music Days 2015 Festival. The winner of the award will receive a commission to write a new piece, which will be premiered during on of the future festivals organized by the ISCM.

EAW 2015 at O'culto da Ajuda

At the invitation of the Miso Music Portugal, the CIME, Research Centre for Electro-Acoustic Music at the Aveiro University, and the Arte no Tempo association, organize in Lisbon an extension of the Electroacoustic Winds 2015, in the framework of a concert, on September 22 at O'culto da Ajuda in Lisbon; the event highlights the music of the three composers, guests of honour at the 1st International Electroacoustic Music Congress in Aveiro: John Chowning, Jean-Claude Risset and Daria Semegen.

Francisco Uberto in residency at the LEC

From September 2015 to February 2016, the Argentinian composer Francisco Uberto is in residency at the Lab for Electroacoustic Creation by Miso Music Portugal. He will be developing a new work for ensemble and live electronics, using the conditions offered by the O'culto da Ajuda and Miso Studio. The residency is supported by Ibermúsicas.

APEM CIME/ICEM Conference . October 2015

Miso Music Portugal (Portuguese Federation of ICEM) and the International Confederation for Electroacoustic Music are organizing the CIME/ICEM General Assembly and the international conference, Archiving and Preservation of Electroacoustic Music. During this event, at the O'culto da Ajuda in Lisbon, the participants will present not only papers on the above mentioned subject, but also various projects concerning technological innovation in music. These presentations will be accompanied by concerts with the Miso Music Portugal's Loudspeaker Orchestra.

World Music Days 2016

Within the Call for Scores/Projects for the World Music Days 2016, Sounds of Tomorrow, Miso Music Portugal has invited six Portuguese composers, published by the Portuguese Music Research & Information Centre, MIC.PT, to include their works in the official application of the ISCM Portuguese Section for this festival dedicated to new music. The invited composers are: Christopher Bochmann, Daniel Martinho, Pedro Rebelo, Ricardo Ribeiro, Clotilde Rosa and Igor C. Silva.

Salt Itinerary at the Casa das Artes de Tavira

One performance, on August 22 at 10h00 pm, of the multimedia opera Salt Itinerary by Miguel and Paula Azguime, is integrated in the celebrations of the Casa das Artes de Tavira anniversary, an arts centre inaugurated 30 years ago with a performance by the Miso Ensemble.

With the aim to encourage the creation and diffusion of new electroacoustic works, Miso Music Portugal organizes and promotes the MÚSICA VIVA 2016 17th International Electroacoustic Composition Competition, whose deadline for submitting works is January 31 2016. The Competitions results will be announced during the Música Viva 2016 Festival taking place between May 20 and 28 2016 at Oculto da Ajuda in Lisbon.

Tra le terre

New piece by Miguel Azguime for the Italian ensemble Ex Novo.
Commission by Teatro La Fenice for its festival Lo spirito della musica di Venezia and the 2015 Marathon.
The piece’s title Tra Terre refers to the Mediterranean Sea, not only as a geographical place in itself but also as a place of encounter of different cultures. The premiere will take place on the July 9 2015 at Teatro La Fenice in Venice.

ConCordas

ConCordas for 13 strings by Miguel Azguime is a new string orchestra piece written for the Camerata Alma Mater and its conductor, Pedro Neves. The premiere will take place at the end of 2015 (date and place to be announced). The piece features a continuous transformation of a unique complex sound aggregate morphing itself into several different states. Here the string orchestra functions as a unit, as if an instrument made of 52 strings (13 x 4 strings).

À Procura de Dizer... as palavras dos poetas

On June 21, 22, 23, 28, 29 and 30, from 8h00 pm to 11h00 pm at O'culto da Ajuda in Lisbon, Miguel Azguime will give a workshop, À Procura de Dizer... as palavras dos poetas (In Search for Saying... the poets' words); for all the ones who like words and enjoy saying them!
